Soy Milk

Out of frustration in getting soy milk without sugar or flavourings near me, I decided to make my own soy milk. What I could find from the shelves has got something in it or some flavourings. They will say no sugar but there's written evaporated cane juice in the ingredients or 'mizu ame' in japanese means sweet syrup or some other scientific names for sugar, artificial sweetener or vanilla flavourings etc.etc. Thanks to my sister in law for teaching me. It wasn't so hard to prepare them. Finally homemade soy milk without sugar or any preservatives.

Ingredients:-
250 grams soybeans (soak overnight)
1 pandan leave (screw pine leave - optional)
2 litre water

1. Blend the soaked soybean until smooth with the water. If you like it thick just reduce the amount of water.
2. Use a muslin cloth to strain the milk.
3. Put in a pot and add screw pine leave.
4. Let it simmer until boil. Add sugar if you want it sweet. Turn off the heat.

Well, it makes sense to add soy milk to your diet. A good source of protein, cholesterol-free and low in saturated fat. Soy milk may help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and as part of low-fat diet, may also help prevent heart disease. Soy milk is better than milk and its lactose free.
